About The Position

The Distribution Manager is responsible for the management of the people and the processes associated with operating a profitable warehouse and installation division; directing receiving, warehousing, scheduling, labor estimating, installation, and distribution services. In addition, the Distribution Manager will ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met, take precautions to secure the warehouse contents against loss, and evaluate inventory on hand. The role provides leadership, communication and follow-up of processes to ensure the customer receives the highest quality, most efficient, and timely service possible.

Requirements

  • Proven management skills with the ability to make sound business decisions, use good judgment in all matters, problem solve customer and employee issues, and recommend changes.
  • Technical, functional, professional expertise in the fundamentals of office furniture products and installation principals, warehouse procedures and techniques, asset inventory management systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws relating to work involving federal contracts, DOT regulations, rules, regulations and/or policies and procedures associated with managing an installation group at various customer sites.
  • Detailed knowledge of computer technology, specifically Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates leadership by being able to translate company’s vision, core values, integrity and accountability into reality.
  • Possesses business acumen, having a keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with our industry and customers’ expectations, in a manner that represents our 'can do' attitude.
  • Communicates effectively by interacting in a clear and compelling way that brings meaning and clarity and inspires confidence.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the installation and warehouse teams, including subcontractors, to ensure that projects are completed timely and within budget, and increase inventory turns resulting in increased cash flow.
  • Decrease inventory product costs by evaluating slow-moving product and reducing the amount of product that is 'lost' having to be re-ordered.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by conducting cycle counts, physical counts and spot checks.
  • Comply with building code requirements, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, and other applicable health and safety laws by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and ensuring accurate records and logs are kept.
  • Safeguard warehouse contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
  • Oversee the disposition of returned product.
  • Oversee the efficient use and maintenance of WR’s vehicle fleet.
  • Manage scheduling procedures with a focus on consistency and efficiency for the best customer experience.
  • Maintain best practices of equipment to minimize cost and loss.
  • Responsibly manage waste to minimize cost and volume to a landfill.
  • Evaluating and responding to customer concerns before, during and after installation.
  • Performing site visits to evaluate installation quality and performance.
  • Review and execute annual subcontractor agreements.
  • Training and coaching of installation and warehouse teams and subcontractors on the company’s MKPS process improvement initiatives.
  • Establishing and maintaining department procedures, processes and policies to maximize safety and efficiency to provide excellent customer service.
  • Preparing and managing annual installation and warehouse budget.
