About The Position

The position involves directing the sourcing, storage, and distribution of all food and non-food inventory at Water Street Mission (WSM). This role is essential for ensuring that the needs of the ministries are met while maintaining quality, efficiency, and effectiveness in operations. The individual will communicate across the organization and with external stakeholders to ensure appropriate capacity and service delivery. The position is full-time and exempt.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • High school degree.
  • 7+ years’ experience in inventory flow and warehouse/facility management.
  • 3+ years of experience directly supervising employees.
  • Experience communicating across a multifaceted organization.
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in management.
  • Experience running and improving sourcing, storage, and distribution flow.
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, database software.
  • Administrative/technical skill running inventory database systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards for warehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and direction for the warehouse team, soliciting input and feedback.
  • Lead weekly team meetings, including a spiritual formation element.
  • Train and motivate staff on food handling, equipment use, and sanitation.
  • Ensure continual improvement in the quality, diversity, and nutritional value of food received.
  • Direct the sourcing, inventory, and distribution of centrally-purchased supplies.
  • Facilitate opportunities for non-food gift-in-kind donations.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to maintain and improve protocols for managing gift-in-kind acquisition.
  • Communicate across WSM to ensure a fully-coordinated flow of information and items.
  • Manage food and non-food warehouse and cold storage areas.
  • Maintain and improve warehouse protocols for staff, volunteers, and guests.
  • Ensure warehouse representation at safety meetings and implement policies.
  • Steward the timely use of warehouse volunteers in collaboration with Volunteer Ministries.
  • Ensure food acquisition, storage, and distribution meet ServSafe and other relevant standards.
  • Oversee annual audit of purchased and donated items at the end of each fiscal year.
  • Responsible for department operating budget and assist with annual budget preparation.
  • Oversee and accountable for annual RMFD in the fall of each year.
  • Identify new ways to source and distribute goods with the Vice President of Logistics and Operations.
  • Practice inventory control through management of IMS and use of barcoding system.
  • Collect and analyze requisition and purchase data within Sales Force.
