The Distribution Dispatcher plays a crucial role in ensuring that materials and personnel are dispatched effectively to serve customers. This position requires strong communication skills, organization, and a friendly demeanor. The dispatcher will assist various field personnel and service providers with daily work assignments, scheduling, customer relations, and emergency situations, maintaining 24/7 office coverage.

  • Recognizing and expediting the routing/notification of emergency orders to ensure proper response.
  • Providing proper documentation or explanation when goals are not met.
  • Initiating contact with outside agencies during various emergency events, including the Fire Department and Health Department.
  • Prioritizing and routing customer and internally requested work orders to field personnel.
  • Documenting service outages and initiating customer notifications through the Admin Tool.
  • Responding to external customer calls addressing inquiries, complaints, and needs.
  • Initiating internal customer calls addressing work orders, routing, and staffing needs.
  • Processing back office work including Indiana 811 locate requests and wastewater reports.
  • Filling in for Senior Dispatcher during overtime calls and emergency alerts.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent and/or combination of education and experience related to Human Relations and Communications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to respond and react to changing work environments relating to workload management and utility emergency events.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must participate in an on-call rotation and be available to work on-site or remote when on-call.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, preferably Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Must pass and participate in the random Drug & Alcohol program.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Customer Contact Center or equivalent experience.
  • Dispatch experience preferred.
  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with ESRI (mapping tool), Indiana 811, INFOR (Sewer Utility Software), and CAD.
