About The Position

The Distribution Designer II is responsible for the creation of electric distribution designs. This role is to support our clients in Colorado. The Distribution Designer II coordinates with the clients, electric customers, and construction crews.  Fieldwork includes a collection of existing asset data before design creation and equipment location staking at the time of construction.  Distribution Designer II can work independently and provides training and support for the Distribution Designer I role.

Requirements

  • At minimum two-year technical degree in Engineering or related construction, CAD, or GIS experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Distribution Design, CAD, GIS, or Distribution Construction
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Trimble Access, O-Calc, PLSCADD, GIS, or other distribution design software and tools
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal/written communication, time management, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Takes ownership of quality of work
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards
  • Must be authorized to work permanently in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Create safe and efficient electric distribution design using Company standards
  • Communicate with engineers for design approval
  • Understands and follows client’s standards and changes to their client’s needs
  • Proficient in a variety of desktop, mobile, and survey software used for the design process
  • Experience with underground and/or overhead distribution design
  • Field data collection of existing assets
  • Staking of facilities utilized. May be required to use survey-grade technology
  • Creation of staking sheets
  • Utilizes quality checklists and ensures a quality product is delivered
  • Reviews city, county, and state permit applications
  • Sharing knowledge with the design team, scheduling, clients, and crews
  • Assist with mentoring of junior staff
  • The point of contact for distribution customers. Coordinates with clients, engineers, scheduling, right of way, third party utilities, and construction crews
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously and ensures milestone deadlines are met
  • Provides continuous updates on jobs to all parties involved with accurate date projection
