About The Position

TRC Companies, Inc., a pioneer in groundbreaking scientific and engineering developments since the 1960s, is a national engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides integrated services to the energy, environmental and infrastructure markets. TRC serves a broad range of clients in industry and government, implementing complex projects from initial concept to delivery and operation. TRC is hiring a Distribution Designer and this position will be working within our Power Distribution Engineering team and a part of our growing Power Sector.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or similar discipline (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems, including preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates.
  • Interact with a variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers.
  • Acquire a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), national engineering standards, utility construction standards, and best industry engineering practices.
  • Maintain production and quality of projects, including field data, photographs, engineering analysis, reports, and various departmental reports and databases.
  • Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages.
  • Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
  • Collect field data utilizing laptop computer, tablet device, GPS, and other electronic devices.
  • Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.
  • Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.
  • Present ideas effectively in formal and informal situations and communicate well in writing.
  • Assist with storm damage assessments to OH and UG distribution structures and equipment.
