About The Position

The Distribution Center Operator will operate material handling equipment while assembling orders to customer specifications. This role involves loading and unloading trucks for the purpose of shipping and receiving goods, and entering information in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) interface relative to product, shipment, and load status. This is a safety-sensitive position, and the Distribution Center operates 365 days a year, including holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds regularly, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance, and push/pull objects up to 2,500 pounds using material handling equipment.
  • Must be able to perform physical work in a variety of positions and at various heights, including bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting of arms and body movement, as well as walking and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Tolerate a variety of temperature conditions.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions; work effectively and maintain deadlines.
  • Must be able to multitask, accurately enter data, and be detail-oriented.
  • Basic math skills including arithmetic; and basic computer skills preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with a history of good attendance.
  • Maintain forklift operator certificate and material handling equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Capacity for stress in a service-oriented environment.
  • Able to work independently, while in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares orders by processing requests and filling/assembling orders for outgoing shipments.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment by keeping the pick lanes, pallet area, dock floor, and shipping/receiving office free of debris and/or clutter.
  • Contributes to team effort by assisting in daily tasks to plan, coordinate, manage time, conduct inventory, record data, and maintain equipment.
  • Loads and unloads trucks, receiving materials and products, picking, packing, wrapping, labeling, and/or shipping products.
  • Maintains shipping and receiving paperwork to ensure incoming and outgoing products and materials are in good condition.
  • Assists in controlling costs by assuring products are stored safely, counted, and delivered by the DC standards.
  • Assists in preparing for company audits and follows Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure standards and guidelines are met.
  • Performs daily material handling equipment inspections, documenting any deficiencies, and informs maintenance team of any issues/concerns.
  • Places damaged and leaking product in the appropriate area.
  • Selects samples for Quality Assurance as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
