About The Position

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION: The Distribution Center (DC) Manager is responsible for the safe and cost-effective operation of a regional distribution center. JOB SUMMARY: The Distribution Center (DC) Manager will perform various management duties including but not limited to, P&L management, planning, scheduling, and directing the day-to-day activities of the DC. The DC Manager focuses on safety, customer service, productivity, order and inventory accuracy, and staff development. Additionally, the DC Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive continuous process improvements that maximize efficiencies and reduce operating costs.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of proven leadership experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment
  • Inventory Control experience with hands-on management of merchandise and supplies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and warehouse management systems
  • Must be well versed in warehouse operations
  • Must be strategic and analytical, grasping complex situations and quickly develop plans to deliver results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels of the company and able to adjust message according to the audience
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Team player with time management skills, can-do attitude, sense of urgency and strong work ethic
  • Very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and working from elevated surfaces
  • Frequently lift and/or move over 75 pounds
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
  • All offers of employment may be conditioned on receipt of a background check report and/or drug screen that is acceptable to Love’s
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, based on business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Operations, Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Background in SAP WM strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment while focusing on minimizing work-related injuries and complying with OSHA and company guidelines
  • Manage a collaborative safety program that promotes team member engagement
  • Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and coach DC team members
  • Lead DC team in achieving aggressive goals as outlined in key performance indicators (KPIs) of safety, customer service, inventory accuracy and operating costs
  • Responsible for the financial performance of the DC, including effective payroll management, budgets and P&L statements
  • Champion continuous process improvement and implement best practices that drive peak DC performance and customer service
  • Plan and conduct regular staff meetings to inform, educate and recognize team members as well as provide a forum for exchange of ideas
  • Ensure inventory accuracy is maintained through proper receipt activities, product movements, accurate shipments, cycle counting, and facility security procedures
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for SAP Warehouse Management (WMS)
  • Utilize the progressive discipline policy to address team member performance issues in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Delegate tasks as needed and follow-up with team members to ensure that tasks are being completed
  • Hands-on execution of all daily operations
  • Ensure facility and company assets are properly secured and maintained for operational readiness
  • Execute company policies, procedures, and programs in a professional and timely manner

  • Serve as onsite forklift trainer
  • Other duties assigned as needed
