About The Position

The Distribution Center Equipment Technician at thredUP is responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment within the distribution center, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. This role involves collaboration with distribution center leadership and includes responsibilities such as preventative maintenance, equipment upgrades, and training operators on equipment use and safety. The position operates on a weekend shift from Friday to Sunday, 6 am to 6 pm, and offers competitive pay starting at $24 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in supporting electrical and mechanical systems.
  • General mechanical assembly and fabrication experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to complete several concurrent tasks efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to support a three-shift operation.
  • Ability to read and use schematics relating to process equipment.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent prioritization and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to perform basic physical tasks such as lifting 25 lbs.

  • Experience in the operations and repair of material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation and preventative maintenance of garment on hanger conveyors, powered roller conveyor, and carousel storage systems.
  • Perform debug and fault recovery on all material handling systems.
  • Fabricate, install, and maintain photography and inspection workstations as required.
  • Schedule and perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on all process equipment.
  • Upgrade equipment when necessary to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document all machine maintenance activities and communicate with other staff.
  • Instruct operators in the use and care of equipment.
  • Provide training to operators on equipment operations and safety.
  • Continuously monitor all operations and processes to prevent and correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions.
