About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to assist the Distribution Center supervisor(s) in coordinating the activities and operations of the shipping, receiving, and order filling functions by leading the daily activities of assigned staff in the Company Distribution Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Assists the Distribution Center supervisor(s) in directing and training assigned staff, monitors employee productivity and quality of work. Assist the Distribution Center supervisor(s) in coordinating the daily activities and operations of assigned areas of the receiving, picking, and/or shipping functions by facilitating and overseeing work assignments for assigned staff. Monitors inventory integrity within the Distribution Center by overseeing assigned cycle counts and audit programs. Stays up to date on required safety regulations; assists in ensuring that all safety regulations are followed by requiring employees to know rules and regulations and by testing their knowledge thereof. Conducts regularly scheduled startup meetings. Audits freight bills, reports overages/shortages of merchandise, and completes other reports pertaining to assigned area of responsibility. Assists in inspecting loading, unloading, receiving, put away, and picking operations to ensure compliance with company specifications. Operates a computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions. Requirements

  • Three years’ experience in a distribution or warehouse environment; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Requires the ability to evaluate, audit, deduce, and/or access data using established criteria. Includes exercising discretion in determining actual or probable consequences and in referencing such evaluation to identify and select alternatives.
  • Requires the ability to act as a first-line leader, including instructing, reviewing work, maintaining standards, and coordinating activities.
  • Requires the ability to operate equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials requiring complex and rapid adjustments.
  • Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive and/or advisory data and information.
  • Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; the ability to interpret graphs.
  • Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
  • Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.
  • Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort, regularly involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of mildly heavy weight (20-50 pounds) and occasionally involving handling heavier objects (up to 100 pounds).
  • Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
  • Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, temperature extremes, electric currents or toxic agents/chemicals.
