Under general supervision, the Associate performs manual tasks associated with the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food products. Responsible for operating machinery to move, locate, relocate, pick, and stack inventory. The Associate position cross-trains in multiple functions to ensure successful distribution operations.

  • Perform a broad range of tasks, which include but are not limited to loading, unloading, storing, and preparing shipments.
  • Review orders, pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and product type are loaded and shipped. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that adheres to company standards.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and undamaged.
  • Manage appropriate records and reports to maintain tight inventory control and security.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and perform inventory adjustments, transfers, and disposals in an inventory management system.
  • Ensure the proper handling, rotation, and replenishment of stock.
  • Operate material-handling equipment safely and efficiently, following proper procedures.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to new and existing team members regarding standard operating procedures and safety regulations.
  • Assist junior staff with more complex support tasks that require a higher understanding of functions, as directed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Provide training and guidance to individual and group volunteers; supervise individual and group volunteers.
  • Escalate issues to the supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure a clean, neat, and orderly work area; clean and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Two years of experience in a warehouse or distribution center.
  • Two years of experience operating industrial power equipment, including forklifts, pallet jackets, reach trucks and scissor lifts.
  • Two years of experience with warehouse management and inventory systems.
  • Two years of experience delivering quality customer service.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately record data.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
  • Fluency in English; verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Basic computer hardware and software operation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete assignments within established timeframes.
  • Ability to operate multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other power equipment.
