About The Position

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen. This role supports the distribution department by preparing, stocking, and assembling items for shipments, while also verifying and maintaining shipment records. It involves inspecting, documenting, and resolving issues with incoming and outgoing shipments, routing items, and participating in training for skill improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or six months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings and technical descriptions.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and must be able to use an inventory system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management; basic math skills.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal

Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming parts and checks for accuracy, enters part information in computer and records parts in receiving log.
  • Routes parts to proper departments for processing
  • Enters parts into proper location and stock parts in proper locations.
  • Locates and produces proper shipping documents to meet daily shipping schedule and records on daily shipping log.
  • Pulls items to fill orders.
  • Packages parts for shipment in manner required by customer; prepares packing slip for purchasing and inventory control.
  • Arranges package pick-ups and may help with general cleaning of work area when necessary.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, and measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
  • Determines method of shipment when no method has been given by supervisor; posts weights and shipping charges and affixes postage; and maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Creates labels and affixes labels on packaged cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers; inserts item into containers; nails covers on wooden crates; binds containers with metal tape; loads and unloads trucks.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming and outgoing shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages; routes shipments to corresponding department.
  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments for shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area; operate various shipping programs on computer (UPS, FEDX, etc.) for shipping documentation; posts receiving data into database system.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
