The Distributed Computer Systems Analyst position at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services involves providing technical support and analysis for distributed computer systems. The role focuses on user support, hardware and software configuration, communication with staff, and maintaining system security and inventory. The analyst will work closely with various teams to ensure efficient operation and support of computer systems within the agency.

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques to solve hardware, software, and communication problems.
  • Provide ongoing support of labs, field inspectors, and building users, including troubleshooting VPN and network connectivity issues.
  • Train managers to submit Change Create User Access Requests for database roles and network login scripts.
  • Configure workstations and laptops for new and existing employees, ensuring necessary software is installed.
  • Configure peripheral devices and assign cell phones to staff as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff regarding system issues and training needs.
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory, including configuring new equipment and tracking software licenses.
  • Monitor Kofax modules and Neopost jobs, ensuring software licenses are current.
  • Support enterprise software installations and upgrades, working with OATS.
  • Conduct annual audits of network folders and user access.
  • Function as Division Information Security Officer, educating staff on security standards.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in computer systems analysis, programming, or designing distributed systems; or
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems and one year of relevant experience; or
  • A master's degree in computer science or management information systems; or
  • Three years of relevant experience with additional educational qualifications.
  • Experience with enterprise class server equipment.
  • Knowledge of data processing terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to manage diverse groups and relate to customer needs.
