Position Summary... We are seeking a Distinguished Software Engineer to define enterprise-wide strategy, architecture, and standards for identity, authentication, and authorization across Walmart’s platforms. This role owns the non-human identity (NHI), with focus on AI identity control plane, AI identity governance, continuous authentication, risk-based access control, and adaptive authorization on a global scale. This role will influence identity paradigms across human, machine, and autonomous agent domains, partnering with Technical Fellows, across Information Security, legal, and technology platform teams to ensure Walmart’s AI identity fabric is scalable, resilient, auditable, and compliant. What you'll do... Define and own Walmart’s enterprise AI identity architecture and standards. Establish identity paradigms for human, machine, and autonomous agent convergence. Set enterprise standards for NHI governance, delegated authority, and agent authentication. Architect continuous authentication and risk-based access control for autonomous AI systems. Building prototypes and demo the technology Define and enforce adaptive authorization using runtime context and risk signals. Lead modernization from static secrets to short-lived, attested identities. Design identity control plane vs. enforcement plane patterns for distributed AI platforms. Establish observability, auditability, and accountability for agent actions. Create partnerships across Global Tech including Fellows, Developer Experience, Technology Platforms and within Information Security to drive the adoption of NHI standards Mentor senior engineers and advise leadership on AI identity risk and strategy.
