About The Position
As part of a collaborative initiative with the Public Defender’s Office, the Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Case Manager is responsible for providing intensive case management, support, and advocacy to individuals who are at risk of involvement in violence or who have been affected by community violence in the neighborhoods of Holden Heights, Parramore, Carver Shores, Rosemont, Mercy Drive, Lake Mann, and Signal Hill. This role focuses on building trusting relationships, reducing barriers to services, and connecting participants to resources that promote safety, stability, and long-term success. The Case Manager will work directly with an assigned Public Defender from the 9th Circuit Public Defender’s Office, as well as Advance Peace Orlando, to collaborate with local outreach teams, law enforcement partners (when appropriate), community agencies, and families to reduce violence and strengthen community well-being.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services, or a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to build trust with individuals involved in or at risk of gun violence.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in the field, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and motivational interviewing.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Prior experience working with high-risk youth or adults, crisis intervention, or community-based services preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments to determine risk factors, needs, and service goals.
- Develop individualized service plans focused on violence reduction, behavior change, and stability.
- Provide ongoing one-on-one support, coaching, psychoeducation, and crisis intervention to individuals impacted by shootings, retaliation risks, and acute trauma.
- Attend all court dates with clients and their attorney to provide support and advocacy.
- Attend staffing meetings with Advance Peace Orlando.
- Maintain consistent presence through home visits, community visits, and field-based engagement.
- Provide psychoeducation to group participants on topics related to safety, coping skills, community resources, and violence prevention.
- Provide conflict mediation, de-escalation, and safety planning when appropriate.
- Coordinate services with community organizations, mental health providers, workforce programs, schools, and other CVI partners.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss cases, trends, and safety concerns.
- Track participant outcomes and maintain confidential records in compliance with agency standards.
- Follow organizational protocols related to safety, mandated reporting, and data collection standards.
