About The Position

The Dispensing Pharmacist is a key member of PRO-spectus’ pharmacy team, responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications in support of our patient access and adherence solutions. This role works onsite in our Addison, Texas pharmacy and is tightly integrated with our Patient Services teams (case management, reimbursement support, and clinical adherence) to help patients gain access to the therapies they need. The Dispensing Pharmacist supports day-to-day dispensing operations, provides clinical oversight for prescription processing, and delivers patient counseling that improves outcomes and strengthens the overall patient experience. Working in close collaboration with Patient Services colleagues, this role helps remove access barriers, supports benefit and coverage workflows, and contributes to the high-touch, patient-centered model that differentiates PRO-spectus.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory requirements in a dispensing environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all dispensing activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex clinical information in a clear and empathetic way to patients and internal partners.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and pharmacy technology platforms; ability to learn new systems quickly
  • BS or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
  • Active Texas pharmacy licensure in good standing. (Additional state licenses a plus.)
  • Willingness to obtain additional state licensures is required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Pharmacy Experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably 2+ years of pharmacy leadership experience.
  • Experience in home infusion or oncology as plus (optional but preferred.)
  • Board certification in pharmacotherapy or certified specialty pharmacy or other relevant specialty (optional but preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy and drug distribution.
  • Perform day-to-day dispensing activities, including verification of prescriptions, clinical review, product selection, and final check prior to medication release.
  • Support timely processing and review of prescription orders/referrals in alignment with case management workflows, helping Patient Services move patients efficiently from referral to therapy initiation.
  • Participate in accurate data entry and maintenance of patient, prescriber, and prescription records within the pharmacy management system.
  • Collaborate with the Supervising Pharmacist (PIC) to maintain compliance with Texas Board of Pharmacy requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Be willing and able to obtain and maintain individual multi-state licensure to serve as redundant PIC support for pharmacy operations.
  • Adhere to internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to dispensing, inventory control, cold chain handling (if applicable), storage, and destruction of medications.
  • Assist with inventory management, including monitoring stock levels, expiration dating, recalls, and controlled substance recordkeeping, in coordination with pharmacy technicians.
  • Support the implementation and daily use of pharmacy technology solutions, including the pharmacy management system, e-prescribing tools, and integrations with Patient Services platforms.
  • Participate in the triage and coordination of prescription transfers and refills to ensure continuity of care and timely medication access for patients.
  • Contribute feedback and ideas to optimize pharmacy workflows, reduce turnaround times, and support PRO-spectus’ commitment to operational excellence and innovation.
  • Partner closely with Patient Services teams (including case management, reimbursement, and adherence specialists) to align dispensing activities with benefit verification, prior authorization, and appeals workflows.
  • Provide clinical input to Patient Services colleagues on dosing, administration, potential interactions, and therapy monitoring requirements to support high-quality case handling.
  • Conduct direct patient counseling (telephonic and/or virtual, and where applicable in-person) regarding medication use, expected outcomes, side effects, storage, and adherence strategies.
  • Support clinical programs designed to improve adherence, persistence, and overall patient experience, including onboarding calls, refill reminders, and targeted outreach.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and refinement of pharmacy-driven clinical initiatives that align with manufacturer program goals and PRO-spectus’ patient access mission.
  • Collaborate with case managers and market access specialists to provide evidence-based input for appeals letters, letters of medical necessity, and payer communications, as requested.
  • Contribute to research and internal reviews of medical and coverage policies to support program strategies and inform Patient Services workflows.
  • Serve as an integrated member of the PRO-spectus care support teams, maintaining a strong patient-first mindset and helping to create a seamless, compassionate experience across the access journey.
