About The Position

The Dispatcher at PSI Environmental Systems, a Waste Connections company, plays a crucial role in coordinating and managing the daily operations of waste collection and delivery services. This full-time position involves scheduling, dispatching, and assisting drivers while ensuring efficient communication with customers and internal teams. The Dispatcher is expected to handle a high volume of calls and data entry in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the operations team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 years of Dispatcher experience in a transportation or logistics atmosphere preferred.
  • Strong typing skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
  • Excellent organization and communication skills, both orally and written.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting driver(s) when a pickup or delivery is in question before servicing.
  • Scheduling and dispatching work to various employees and departments throughout the day.
  • Providing route updates to the office regarding downed routes, delayed routes, and truck issues.
  • Analyzing and resolving customer inquiries for missed pickups, misplaced containers, and property damage.
  • Contacting customers as necessary regarding route driver needs, gate codes, placement issues, safety issues, and rescheduling if necessary.
  • Maintaining dispatch notes, route note updates, and reported daily notes.
  • Multitasking large amounts of data entry while maintaining high volume call volume and internal employee interaction.
  • Closing and posting work orders, charging tonnage/yardage, and updating disposal logs and other tracking reports.
  • Performing route sequencing and making quick decisions without managerial approval.
  • Working occasional Saturdays with drivers and attending Safety & Team meetings.
  • Maintaining fuel logs and RTA daily.
  • Performing other tasks needed by operations or office.
