The Dispatcher at US FOODS® is responsible for coordinating driver activities to ensure customer needs are met promptly and professionally. This role is crucial for maintaining service quality and involves managing various logistical tasks, including route assignments and compliance with transportation regulations.

  • Coordinate driver activities to resolve service issues.
  • Verify that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Notify the manager/supervisor in case of a vehicle accident or driver injury.
  • Minimize hours of service violations by coordinating driver activities.
  • Verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
  • Assign backhauls efficiently as needed.
  • Coordinate trailer and tractor assignments.
  • Communicate service issues to the sales force and operations management.
  • Reassign routes as necessary.
  • Visually inspect each driver's appearance for proper uniform and PPE compliance.
  • Coordinate shuttle assignments to minimize downtime and overtime.
  • Complete Attendance Reports.
  • Distribute intercompany mail to the sales force.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must have working knowledge of DOT regulations and driver's logs.
  • Must be organized, detailed, and have legible handwriting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Minimum of 2 years transportation experience required.
  • CDL A preferred.
