About The Position
TeamOne Logistics is seeking an organized and efficient Dispatcher to join our dynamic team in Statesville, NC. The Dispatcher will be accountable for coordinating the movements of trucks leaving and entering terminals, ensuring that drivers leave and arrive on schedule. This role requires constant communication with truck drivers through phones and electronic logs and apps, as well as being available at all times to answer any questions from drivers, help them avoid traffic jams, and keep them informed about inclement weather. The Dispatcher will also monitor hours of service for each driver and will be responsible for customer service activities, procedures, and other daily tasks that are crucial to the success of the Dispatch department. Additionally, the Dispatcher will review and process orders, ensuring timely delivery for all shipments in their respective portfolio. The responsibilities of the Dispatcher include checking drivers in and out of terminals, transferring trip records into company files, and keeping track of the progress that drivers make along their routes using Samsara and check calls. The Dispatcher will handle requests and complaints from customers, become proficient in the use of software systems such as Prophesy and PC Miler, and prepare the frontend portion of customer billing and driver payroll in Prophesy software. Maintaining and monitoring bills of lading, trip sheets, driver logs, and preparing reports are also key tasks. The Dispatcher must ensure that detention, lumper charges, and any discrepancies are handled efficiently and in a timely manner. A strong knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the Department of Transportation (DOT) is essential, along with full knowledge of dispatch practices, scheduling, and computerized record-keeping skills. The Dispatcher will also be responsible for handling specific accounts assigned to them and becoming a knowledgeable and competent backup where necessary. Effective communication with drivers is crucial, as is the ability to negotiate carrier rates. The role requires performing all job responsibilities under pressure, with flexible availability to perform on-call duty as assigned by the operations manager. A strong geographical knowledge and understanding of how rates are affected by different geographical areas, times of year, and seasonal conditions are also important for success in this position.
