As a US FOODS® Dispatcher you will be responsible for coordinating driver activities to resolve service issues. The main objective is to verify that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Must have working knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and driver's logs.
  • Must be organized and detailed; and have legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to manage several things at once.
  • Must have (2) years transportation experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating driver activities to resolve service issues.
  • Verify that the customer's needs are met in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Notify the manager/supervisor in charge and the safety specialist ASAP in the case of a vehicle accident or driver injury.
  • Coordinate driver activities to minimize hours of service violations.
  • Verify that drivers are using Omnitracs properly.
  • Assign backhauls as needed to be done in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Coordinate trailer and tractor assignments.
  • Communicate to the sales force and operations management if there are any concerns regarding service issues that may arise in the event of a late dispatch, breakdown or other service failure.
  • Reassign routes as needed.
  • Visually inspect each driver's appearance to verify that drivers are in proper uniform and have required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Coordinate shuttle assignments to minimize downtime and overtime.
  • Complete Attendance Reports.
  • Distribute intercompany mail to sales force.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
