About The Position

The Dispatcher, based at our Phoenix branch, is a dynamic role. Reporting to our Transportation Manager, you’ll work to support the delivery and material handling teams for the AZ branches. Position Summary The position involves a high level of communication between sales staff and customers to achieve efficient coordination of loading, unloading and delivery of products to customers and job sites. The Dispatcher complies with safety programs, including all company, federal, state and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Principle Accountabilities Leads activities related to the delivery of product including but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; motivating, evaluating, rewarding and disciplining employees. Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties. Monitors comprehension and re-trains as necessary. Ensures proper Department of Transportation (DOT) record keeping per DOT standards. Ensures drivers are completing daily inspection reports and deficient items are repaired in a timely manner. Monitors compliance with state and federal meal and rest breaks. Works with Human Resources (HR) to resolve ongoing violations. Develops and maintains positive relationships with customers. Notifies customers of deviations to schedule. Listens to and resolves customer complaints. Escalates complaints to supervisor if unable to resolve. Schedules the delivery of products to job sites in a timely and efficient manner. Contacts an approved outside line hauler for flatbed loads as required. Assists in periodic cost checks against other haulers.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated experience working as a dispatcher.
  • Ability to communicate with customers.
  • Ability to interface with vendors and other outside contractors.
  • Familiar with DOT requirements.
  • Familiar with the operation of heavy equipment, boom trucks and other commercial vehicles.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices.
  • Strong organizational and task management skill.
