Part-Time Dispatcher – Weekend Shifts The City of North Canton is seeking reliable, calm, and community-minded individuals to join our Dispatch team in a part-time capacity, working weekend afternoon and/or weekend overnight shifts. This position is ideal for someone looking to supplement their income, balance another job or school schedule, or who simply prefers a structured weekend work schedule. What This Role Looks Like As a Part-Time Dispatcher, you will be responsible for receiving and processing emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching Police, Fire, and EMS services, and providing clear, accurate information in fast-paced situations. Weekend shifts can be busy, so the ability to stay focused and composed is essential. Schedule Expectations Part-time Weekend afternoons and/or weekend nights Shifts fall on Saturdays and Sundays This role is specifically intended for weekend availability What We’re Looking For Strong communication and listening skills Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure Basic computer skills and the ability to learn dispatch systems Dependability and punctuality are a must Prior dispatch or public safety experience is a plus, but not required – we will train the right candidate Pay & Benefits Hourly pay starting at $21.58 per hour while training This is a part-time, non-benefited position Requirements Must successfully complete a background investigation Psychological evaluation and drug/alcohol screening required Must be able to work in a 24/7 public safety environment Why Consider Dispatch? North Canton Dispatch is committed to providing 24-hour telephone service for public information and routine/emergency assistance. Dispatch facilitates continuous communication with police/fire department members in the field via two-way radio capability.
