About The Position

Dispatcher Transdev in Johnson County, Kansas is hiring a Dispatcher. The Dispatcher oversees road service through communication with Operators and provides customer support to the clients. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety. We are offering the following: Competitive compensation package of minimum $17.25 – Maximum $21.50 hr. Benefits include: Vacation: 1 week Sick days: 4 days Holidays: 10 days; 6 standard and 4 floating Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; Technical Degree preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Availability to work one of the following shifts: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
  • Prior experience in dispatching, particularly in transportation, transit, or logistics environments preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable.
  • DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to: Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per shift) while operating a computer, phone, and radio equipment.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate dispatch systems, keyboards, and communication devices.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in person, over the phone, and via radio.
  • Occasionally stand, walk short distances, bend, or reach to access files or equipment.
  • Lift or move items up to 25 pounds, such as radios, headsets, or office supplies.
  • Maintain focus and attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Tolerate exposure to moderate noise levels typical of a dispatch or operations center.
  • In some cases, step outside to interact with drivers or inspect vehicles, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, vehicle fumes, or outdoor environments.

  • Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in dispatching, particularly in transportation, transit, or logistics environments preferred
  • Technical Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee road service assigned carriers by tracking trip performance measures, route begin on time, performance, incidents, etc.
  • Provide customer support by responding to questions and concerns regarding customer trips including no shows, cancellations and missed trips.
  • Manage emergency situations for vehicle operators, act as liaison between the carrier and emergency services.
  • Manage daily service by reviewing route performance and proactively responding to situations that impact customer service.
  • Other duties as required.
