As a Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator at Escot Bus Lines, you will play a crucial role in managing a team of 60 to 100 bus operators who provide service on regularly scheduled routes as well as single and multi-day charters. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that established schedules and work assignments comply with federal laws while promoting safety and excellent customer service. The Dispatch department is transitioning to a 24-hour operation, and while training will begin on the day shift, this position will primarily operate on the second shift, including weekends, with some flexibility required. The shifts may consist of 4 ten-hour shifts or 5 eight-hour shifts. In this role, you will report to the Operations Logistics Specialist/Scheduler and will be responsible for ensuring that drivers are in full uniform and punctual. Given the diverse group of drivers, strong communication skills are essential. You will need to develop and maintain positive relationships with all drivers and support staff, understand DOT Hours of Service, review logs, and address any compliance issues. Additionally, you will fairly observe and review driver performance, handle accidents and complaints promptly, and assure enforcement of all rules and policies as provided by the President and COO. The Dispatcher/Transportation Coordinator must possess or have the ability to obtain a Commercial Chauffeur's License (Passenger Endorsement) within 90 days of employment. You should be detail-oriented, capable of learning and utilizing relevant computer software, and adept at solving scheduling puzzles while developing alternative solutions. Furthermore, you should maximize your potential to promote productivity and positive morale, understand the differences in roles between management, supervisory, and line personnel, and interface effectively with all driver employees and various positions throughout the organization. Commanding the respect of your peers and possessing traits of honesty, integrity, creativity, and flexibility are essential for success in this position.
