About The Position

The Dispatch/Router Combo position involves communicating with Waste Management Drivers to assist with problem resolution while on route for residential, commercial, and roll-off lines of business. The role includes handling incoming service orders, directing drivers, and resolving service issues. The individual will interact with customers, including Waste Management customer service, sales, and operational staff such as Route Managers and Mechanics. The position requires the use of Waste Management proprietary software to manage same-day ticket routing and prepare routes for the next day. Shifts may vary, with potential for overtime and Saturday hours depending on dispatch center needs. Some travel (up to 15%) may be required to work face-to-face with sites the dispatcher is responsible for.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D (accredited).
• Six (6) months of relevant work experience in a team setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively across several areas.
• Multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Computer skills with the ability to handle multiple programs and systems.
• Effective and professional communication via email, telephone, and 2-way devices.
• Desire and ability to learn Waste Management proprietary software applications.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches drivers to calls as they are received, balancing cost and customer satisfaction.
• Works with sites and the service department to optimize routes based on customer needs.
• Determines daily driver staffing levels for responsiveness and productivity.
• Assigns routes and service tickets to appropriate drivers throughout the day and for the next day.
• Manages and determines route actions and assures route completion.
• Handles incoming calls and emails from customer service and sales department.
• Manages requests for all pick-up or delivery on any container movement within the Market area.
• Initiates communication to customers while drivers are on-site, resolving pick-up and other issues.
• Troubleshoots and resolves potential delivery and pick-up problems.
• Ensures same-day service on missed pick-ups by managing routing and tracking driver movement.
