The Dispatcher I at AIT Worldwide Logistics is responsible for overseeing and documenting the pickup and delivery of local shipments. This role involves coordinating and communicating shipment information between drivers and delivery agents, ensuring timely and efficient service to meet customer needs. The position offers flexibility in start times and the opportunity for extra hours on weekends, contributing to a dynamic and supportive work environment focused on customer satisfaction and teamwork.

  • Responsible for routing local freight and dispatching drivers.
  • Perform dock checks and track shipments.
  • Work with dock staff to ensure the movement of freight.
  • Timely event data entry of shipment milestones into MyAIT & AS400 tracking system.
  • Provide customer service to identify and meet specific customer needs.
  • Answer/make customer inquiry calls and address customer concerns/complaints.
  • Assign driver load planning based on local mapping and appointments.
  • Identify and coordinate the prioritization of rushed/urgent/last minute shipments.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalency required; Associate Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-3 years in Freight Forwarding industry experience preferred and/or industry experience in customer service/operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience working with AS400 preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Strong geographic and mapping skills.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with customers, drivers, and co-workers.
  • A team player who works well with others.
  • A strong work ethic with an appreciation for ownership, independence, accountability, and autonomy in your role.
