About The Position

The Dispatcher-EMT at RWJBarnabas Health is responsible for managing emergency calls, utilizing advanced communication systems to dispatch appropriate resources, and ensuring the safety of personnel in the field. This role requires strong customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to operate under pressure in emergency situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Driver's License required.
• 1-3 years of previous dispatch experience in firefighting/EMS preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification required.
• APCO BTC or State approved equivalent Certification required.
• IAED Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification required.
• Hazmat Material Awareness training Certification required.
• Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training Certification required.
• ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800 Certification required.
• PHTLS/ITLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer 9-1-1 and other telephone calls, screening them according to the IAED ProQA system.
• Dispatch appropriate resources based on call screening.
• Utilize Computer Aided Dispatch, radio communications, and telephone systems to communicate with field units.
• Update status on assignments and ensure the safety of all personnel.
