About The Position
Under the general supervision of a Dispatcher-Clerk Supervisor, incumbent will manage all phases of radio/telephone communications, lane closures, and other required duties. Must be able to follow oral and written directions, think and act in emergencies, analyze situations accurately and take effective action. General knowledge of the geography of California State including main highways, cities and counties, and the ability to read maps. Must speak in clear and concise manner and use proper grammar. Must modulate Voice well for radio transmission; clear enunciation; orderliness; and hear at a level required for successful job performance. Daily tasks will require the use of a personal computer (PC), and knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer applications as required. Working in an office with fluctuating temperatures and lighting. Working irregular hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Noisy environment includes continuous ringing of telephones, fax machines, computer printers, work related conversations, and radio traffic.
