Under the general supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for dispatching for Tow Service at the 7 Bay Area Toll Bridges and routes. Will use radios with various channels, answer telephones, operate word processing equipment, maintain records, and enter data into various data bases. Must be able to perform duties efficiently and independently. Must be able to perform difficult clerical work including good grammar and spelling. Analyze situations and take effective action, remain calm under extreme pressure, verbally express oneself in a well-organized, clear and concise manner. Will be required to work irregular hours, including day, evening and night shifts, weekends and holidays. The incumbent is required to have a valid Typing Certificate of 40 words per minute.
