About The Position

DirectHire Dispatch Supervisor – Direct Hire Position Summary The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for delivering excellent customer service while coordinating daily dispatch operations. This role serves as the primary link between customers and drivers, ensuring efficient scheduling, clear communication, and smooth execution of port pickups, customer deliveries, and empty returns.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of dispatch or port operations experience at the Port of Houston, TX (entry-level candidates with strong potential are encouraged to apply)
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • High stress tolerance and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and takes initiative
  • Strong problem analysis and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing situations and information
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize effectively
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
  • Patient, resilient, and comfortable communicating with multiple drivers daily
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with brokerage or freight forwarding companies is not preferred
  • Knowledge of Profit Tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage port pickups, customer deliveries, and empty container returns within free-time constraints
  • Act as a primary point of contact for customers and drivers via phone, email, and in person
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all inquiries, maintaining strong email communication and inbox organization
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and transactions
  • Follow up on customer and driver communications to ensure resolution and satisfaction
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Adapt to last-minute operational changes and shifting priorities
  • Identify and suggest operational improvements to enhance efficiency and service
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
