About The Position

The Dispatcher Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of dispatching within the Logistics division. This role involves managing driver duties, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, and maintaining effective communication with both internal and external customers. The supervisor will also handle the dispatching of loads, negotiate rates with third-party carriers, and ensure that drivers are compensated accurately for their work. The position requires a strong focus on safety policies and incident investigations, as well as the ability to manage the fleet efficiently and safely. The Dispatcher Supervisor will also participate in training and supervising dispatch staff, ensuring that all employees adhere to company policies and performance standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience as a Dispatcher.

Nice To Haves

  • College and/or related technical experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management.
  • One year of supervisory experience managing at least five people.
  • Four years of experience in Shipping and Warehousing or CDL Truck Driving.

Responsibilities

  • Dispatch as needed and negotiate rates with third-party carriers.
  • Direct daily driver duties, managing routes and schedules.
  • Ensure DOT compliance related to driver hours of service.
  • Interact with internal and external customers for effective communication.
  • Enter purchase orders as needed.
  • Participate in and initiate discipline for drivers as per company policy.
  • Review driver documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Select external carriers for load assignments as needed.
  • Manage payroll to ensure accurate compensation for drivers.
  • Oversee fleet management for efficiency and safety.
  • Coordinate equipment repair and maintenance with lease vendors.
  • Complete incident investigation forms for safety-related issues.
  • Conduct ride-alongs with drivers to understand their needs.
  • Supervise all employees in the department, including drivers.
