The Dispatch Sergeant at American Dream is responsible for ensuring a positive shopping and entertainment experience for guests. This role involves overseeing dispatch functions, providing guidance to security personnel, and responding to emergencies while maintaining accurate records and communication with law enforcement and emergency services.

  • Serves as an on-duty person in charge of Dispatch functions in the absence of Supervisor.
  • Trains new team members.
  • Ensures complete and accurate records are kept.
  • Provides guidance to Security Systems Controllers and enforces American Dream Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Promptly answers incoming radio and telephone calls, prioritizes requests for assistance, and dispatches appropriate personnel.
  • Requests assistance from appropriate Law Enforcement, Fire, or EMS department as necessary.
  • Monitors various alarm systems and responds to trouble signals according to procedure; monitors Closed Circuit TV system.
  • Maintains complete and accurate logs and records.
  • Enters, processes, and retrieves computerized data as requested.
  • Monitors and operates multi-channel radio base system according to department and FCC regulations.
  • Distributes radio and related equipment to authorized mall staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including typing, filing, and other clerical or security-related issues.
  • Six months prior public safety/security dispatching experience or equivalent education preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in leadership and providing direction to Dispatch officer team.
  • Ability to effectively and timely communicate information using multi-line phones, multiple radio channels, and communications systems.
  • Ability to develop call interpretation and decision-making skills necessary to dispatch appropriate emergency services effectively.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations, ability to accept direction.
  • Ability to work variable and/or rotating shifts, which include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of FCC rules and regulation; knowledge of law enforcement/security procedures and practice preferred.
  • Ability to type 30 words per minute.
  • Computer experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
