About The Position

The Dispatcher Manager, reporting to the Director of Transportation, will be responsible for managing the dispatch functions of Barrett’s fleet operations to ensure the efficient and effective movement of our customers' products. This position works on-site Monday through Friday, from 8am-5pm. The compensation range for this position is $80K-$90K per year, depending on experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; some college preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an LTL or multi-stop private fleet is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience with ELD reporting and driver monitoring is required.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft business applications such as Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines.
  • Strong emphasis on organizational skills, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Proven experience engaging clients through professional investigative techniques to understand the client’s needs, discover new opportunities and overcome challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily trucking routes and driver schedules that make required stops outlined in customer contracts.
  • Manage all routing modifications to ensure the business is utilizing equipment and staff efficiently.
  • Set and monitor productivity, service, and safety targets for each route and driver.
  • Monitor daily truck revenue goals – explain variances from company standard.
  • Develop and monitor field efficiencies and innovate new ways to improve operations.
  • Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
  • Responsible for handling complaints, discussing challenges and working with management to develop action plans to improve driver performance, profitability and customer service.
  • Partner with customer, internal and external resources as necessary to identify, evaluate and remove safety obstacles.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and protocols as well as federal, state and local regulations.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the professional drivers including recruiting, training, and performance management.
  • Plan, organize and manage the work of staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
  • Actively leads start up meetings and effectively communicates daily goals, building and company-wide information.
  • Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
  • Manage maintenance schedules to reduce/eliminate downtime due to mechanical failures
  • Schedule outside vendors for PM, accident repair, and snow removal; direct activities of staff performing repairs and maintenance to equipment and vehicles
  • Ensure all equipment is registered and inspected; identify subpar equipment, ensure that food grade equipment is in use at all times
  • Ensure all government required HOS/ELD reporting is accurate and all fuel taxes are reported and paid on time
  • Performs other duties as assigned
