About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Mobile Crisis Director, the Dispatch Coordinator provides connection via telephone between the individual and the mobile crisis team.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of DWIHN policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health and mental health principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual.
  • Knowledge of MWHIN.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of crisis training and experience in de-escalation, i.e., suicide prevention, development of crisis plans, trauma informed care, etc.

  • Judgement/Reasoning ability
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, the Social Services, or a related field.
  • Behavioral Health Crisis Provider Training required by MDHHS approved entity.
  • 2 years work experience in a mental health/crisis services field
  • A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as primary liaison between individuals in crisis and mobile crisis team.
  • Receive complete and accurate information from crisis representatives or individuals in crisis and relay information to the mobile crisis team.
  • Utilize MHWIN dispatch system to deploy mobile crisis team.
  • Respond to crisis calls and referral for mobile crisis deployment.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and crisis interventions for callers in crisis.
  • Complete triage to provide initial assessment of the individual’s need.
  • Assess all callers for suicide.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage high call volume.
  • Ability to document each encounter concurrently while in-call.
  • Have a working knowledge of community resources.
  • Understands and adheres to DHWIN compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Participates in agency and system staff meetings.
  • Mobile Crisis and Dispatch Coordinators operate 24/7, 365 days per year. Staff must have the ability to work various shifts.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
