About the position

CHI Health St. Francis, established in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1887, is a regional referral center dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to the community. Our hospital employs over 1100 individuals, including more than 100 physicians, all working collaboratively to enhance the health of our community. We prioritize patient care by ensuring that services are accessible and that patients are supported by their families and friends during their treatment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining inventories and records, including monitoring temperatures as part of our departmental quality assurance program. You will disassemble returned patient trays and ensure that all equipment, dishes, trays, and carts are cleaned and sanitized before and after each meal service. Operating the dishwasher is a key part of your duties, ensuring that all dishware, pots, pans, and utensils are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and dried. You will also sort, stack, and soak all dishes and flatware in accordance with standardized procedures, maintaining a clean and orderly working environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping the Dining Center stocked with tray, china, and silverware supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains inventories and records temperatures as part of the departmental quality assurance program.
  • Disassembles returned patient trays and cleans and sanitizes equipment, dishes, trays, and carts before and/or after each meal.
  • Prepares the dishwasher for operation and empties and cleans it when finished.
  • Operates the dishwasher to ensure thorough cleaning, sanitizing, and drying of dishware, pots and pans, and utensils.
  • Sorts, stacks, and soaks all dishes and flatware in proper containers according to standardized procedures.
  • Keeps all equipment and working area clean and orderly.
  • Maintains tray, china, and silverware supplies in the Dining Center.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write/follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisory, and management personnel.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to be on feet all day.
  • Good eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, climb on a step ladder, and reach above shoulder level.
  • Ability to crouch, kneel, and balance.
  • Ability to use both hands simultaneously.
