About The Position

Utility/Prep Cook Associates participate in providing a total quality dining service program. This includes thorough cleaning of dishware, flatware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, equipment, and facilities to meet sanitation standards. Utility Associates may also perform a variety of food preparation duties such as preparing cold foods and shellfish, slicing meat, prepping salads, desserts, hot food prep and brewing coffee or tea. Requirements

Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources and outside contacts
Able to make independent decisions
Must be able to communicate in a warm, friendly and caring manner
Must be able to follow recipes and menus
Must be able to follow direction and prepare meals when the head cook is absent
Must fully understand the importance of reliability and timeliness
Must possess a passion to work with and around senior citizens
High School Graduate or equivalent
Able to stand or walk 75% of the day
Able to concentrate with frequent interruptions
Able to work under stress and in emergency situations
Able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping
Able to talk and hear effectively in order to convey instructions and information to residents and team members
Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

Experience in professional food service is preferred

Responsibilities

General duties include but are not limited to: cleaning, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, and dusting kitchen and dining room, and food prep as assigned.
Wash and ensuring dishes, pots and pans, and utensils are at the highest standards of cleanliness
Cleans dishwasher machine inside and out after each shift
Maintains a neat appearance of working areas and cleaning equipment storage areas
Cleans floor drains as scheduled and as needed
Reports to the Cook or Executive Chef any equipment and supplies that are needed
Ensures the proper use of equipment and supplies and upholds cleaning and safety standards
Must be in company uniform and resident ready at all times
Performs other related essential duties as assigned
