About The Position

Truth be Told, our British Gastropub, located inside The Study at the University of Chicago in the beautiful Hyde Park, is currently seeking a full-time Dishwasher with open availability including weekends and holidays. Our hours of operation are seven days a week, 7AM to 10PM. The back-of-house team provides genuine hospitality by means of the highest quality culinary experience for our guests. The ideal candidate has an engaging, vibrant personality that thrives in a team environment. Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience: None required.
  • Ability to communicate with both employees and guests.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and help with various tasks, as needed.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work any shift including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency in English required. A second language is desirable.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Load, run and unload dish machine.
  • Keep the dish machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems immediately.
  • Monitor dish machine water temperature to ensure sanitary wash cycle.
  • Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware.
  • Keep dish wash area clean and organized.
  • Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for dining room and kitchen.
  • Bag and haul dish wash trash to dumpster at designed times.
  • Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
  • Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies.
  • Clean food preparation and production areas as required.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or Chef.
  • Aid and assist chefs in daily preparation of items, goods and inventory.
