Job Purpose: The Dishwasher performs designated work and cleaning routines for the Dining Department and is accountable to the Executive Chef. In the absence of the Executive Chef, Dishwasher is accountable to the Cook.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous dietary service experience preferred, ideally in healthcare, hospitality, or senior living.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to cleanliness, detail, and organization.
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation procedures at all times.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment, as assigned by the Executive Chef. Work routines may include removing trays from dining or resident rooms once residents have completed the meal, taking trays and dishes to the dish room, dishwashing, pot and pan washing, and cleaning.
  • Washes dishes, tableware, glasses, and other kitchen and dining room equipment and assures they are stored in an orderly fashion.
  • Required to wash all pots, pans and cooking utensils used to prepare a meal.
  • Required to assist in the cleaning of the kitchen equipment, food storage area, and supply areas according to the facility schedule.
  • Required to assist in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep and mop floor at the end of shift.
  • Required to perform duties in a swift and orderly fashion in order to accomplish tasks in allotted time.
  • Follow established reporting procedures for the following: o Inform supervisor of supply or equipment needs. o Any damaged or loose fixtures, flooring, or tiling requiring replacement or repair. o Any unsafe or malfunctioning equipment. o Any conditions conducive to breeding insects, rodents or other vermin.
  • Clean equipment and work areas as assigned by the Executive Chef.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
  • Attend scheduled department staff meetings and in-service trainings.
  • Attend inservice educational programs.
  • Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.
  • Follow defined Infection Control procedures.
  • Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties.
  • Understand community's fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Be knowledgeable of federal, state, and community's rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Executive Chef.
  • May assist with serving and pouring beverages at meals.
  • Uphold Wingate’s “Five Star” customer service approach in every aspect of the job.
  • Required to perform duties efficiently in order to accomplish tasks in allotted time.
  • Attend in-service educational programs.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
  • Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Reports to the appropriate managers any known or suspected violations of policy and procedures, regulations or standards of conduct.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
