About The Position

We are seeking a reliable and energetic individual to join our team as a Restaurant Steward/Dishwasher. The Dishwasher plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for both staff and guests. This position requires attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a dishwasher, steward, or in a similar role preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to operate commercial dishwashing equipment and follow proper cleaning and sanitization procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and dedication to contributing to the success of the restaurant.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Endurance to withstand long hours of standing, walking, and repetitive motions.
  • Lift and carry objects, weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, reach, and perform physical tasks.
  • Adherence to proper lifting techniques and ergonomics to prevent strain or injury while performing job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to established standards.
  • Sort and stack clean dishes, glassware, and utensils in designated storage areas, ensuring proper organization and efficient access for kitchen staff.
  • Empty trash bins, recyclables, and compostables from kitchen and dining areas, and dispose of waste in accordance with sanitation guidelines and recycling policies.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils, including countertops, stovetops, ovens, grills, and prep stations, using approved cleaning products and procedures.
  • Sweep, mop, and scrub floors in kitchen and dining areas to remove spills, stains, and debris, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Assist kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks, such as chopping vegetables, portioning ingredients, and assembling mise en place as needed.
  • Replenish supplies, such as dishwashing detergent, soap, and cleaning supplies, in designated storage areas and workstations.
  • Follow proper safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals or operating equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation guidelines, to ensure compliance with local health department requirements.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and serving staff to support efficient operation of the restaurant and provide excellent customer service to guests as needed.
