About The Position

As a Dishwasher/Steward at InterContinental Houston, you will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing plateware, silverware, glassware, pots & pans, utensils, and equipment in a timely manner. Requirements

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand and move about the kitchen or other designated areas.
• Ability to handle objects, products, chemicals, cleaning supplies, and utensils.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel.
• Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up work station as required, including filling dish machine, checking chemical levels, and gathering required set-up equipment.
• Rinse/scrape all dishes and operate dishwashing machine according to manufacturer specifications.
• Place clean dishes in assigned storage location.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
• Check the working condition of equipment and machinery and inform supervisor of any hazardous situations.
• Clean designated equipment such as hoods, filters, steam tables, and service areas.
• Empty and clean trash cans and transport garbage containers to dump site.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floor at the end of each meal period.
• Monitor chemicals and water temperature during shift.
• Clean and organize work area and kitchen equipment according to procedures.
