About The Position

Uchi Philadelphia is seeking a Dishwasher/Porter to join their team in Rittenhouse Square. Uchi, meaning 'house' in Japanese, was founded by James Beard Award–winning Chef Tyson Cole and offers non-traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and a seasonal omakase. Uchi is part of Hai Hospitality, an emerging, multi-concept restaurant group based in Austin, Texas, which also includes Uchiko, Uchiba, and Loro. The company prides itself on hospitality, employee work ethic, craft, and creativity, aiming to create an unforgettable experience for guests.

Requirements

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
  • Must be able to detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs
  • Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas and items
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Must have the ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements
  • Must have the ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives
  • Must be able to maintain a neat and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces
  • Must be able to move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs
  • Must have the ability to work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors
  • Must be able to maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming
  • Must be able to understand directives and communicate effectively with Leadership and coworkers

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate with guests and other employees

  • Stock inventory and perform restocking duties
