About The Position

The Dishwasher/Cooks Aide II will assist the Cook/Nutritionist in the preparation of two (2) meals a day and one (1) snack; will run the dishwasher and properly dispose of refuse in a safe, sanitary manner; general cleaning and sanitizing of work area.

Requirements

  • Must have good personal cleanliness habits.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Good staff/children relation skills are required.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of personalities.
  • This will require an individual to be able to deal with parents, children and others, tribal employees with tact, courtesy, respect, objectivity, and maturity.
  • Must be in good physical health, free from communicable diseases, will be required to take a physical examination and tuberculin test annually.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairways, pushing carts, handling foods and moderate lifting.
  • Must be willing to work in potentially hazardous conditions, such as hot cooking surfaces, wet floors, electrical equipment and hot foods.
  • Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days and keep valid.
  • Attend training as request or required.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health and be of good moral character.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with fellow employees under conditions that can become stressful due to heavy student enrollment.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Must be able to continually and effectively employ professional verbal and written communications skills.
  • All applicants will comply with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, which require all prospective employees to sign a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies and to comply with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in meal preparations and clean up.
  • Learn proper sanitizing and dishwashing techniques.
  • Learn proper storage techniques of food and utensil.
  • Assist and share responsibilities for cleanliness and sanitation of all areas.
  • Assist in classroom nutrition experiences.
  • Follow Educare Winnebago chain of command and the chain of command of the Tribal Organization.
  • Understands and adheres to the policies and procedures of Educare Winnebago and the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska.
  • Always present a professional image in the food preparation areas.
  • Display positive image for Educare Winnebago in the community.
  • Handles confidential information with discretion concerning all children, families and Educare Winnebago related activities.
