About The Position

The Dish Machine Operator supports the entire team in a friendly manner by assuring sparkling clean dishes, pots, and pans for preparation while assisting with other operational and custodial demands. The position includes multi-tasking throughout the department to help Augustana maintain its Dining service mission statement.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and in collaboration with other employees.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a high volume, customer-oriented environment.
• Outstanding service orientation and the ability to create immediate rapport with a wide variety of personalities.

Responsibilities

• Stocking and set up of dish machine area, presoak area, and three compartments sink.
• Scrapes, sorts, stacks, and scrubs pots and pans, dishes, utensils, etc. in preparation for warewashing machine.
• Supplies serving and preparation areas with clean dishes and utensils.
• Organizes dishroom area and other storage areas of smallwares, dishes, or cooking/storage pans.
• Maintains satisfactory sanitation level and applies established safety procedures. Is involved in safety inspections.
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with co-workers and guests.
• General custodial duties including stocking, sweeping, mopping, wiping, chemical handling, and the removal of recycling and garbage.
• Set up, operate, and disassemble dish machine, three compartment sink, ware wash for silverware, and other related operational procedures in an efficient, effective, and sanitary manner.
• Insures proper temperature levels on dish machine to meet Health Department standards.
• Performs cleaning duties including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleaning. Complete cleaning tasks as assigned on daily side work cleaning list.
• Assists as necessary in kitchen, service, and storekeeping areas.
• Assists in on-the-job training of students and other employees assigned to the food service sanitation areas.
• Performs various other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
