About The Position

MAIN FUNCTION: To provide support to the Disease Management Coordinator. Specifically to support with all functions necessary to maintain Arnot Ogden's high quality stroke designation, to include scheduling, abstracting, and reporting functions. This position will also be responsible for assisting the Disease Management Coordinator with functions of the Sepsis program. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Stroke: 1. Is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Stroke Registry. Organizes inputs and maintains patient computer data to ensure conformance with operation standards established by the ArnotHealth, Joint Commission, and New York State Department of Health. 2. Assembles and disseminates Registry data and conducts short and long - term audits as required. Prepares routine and special statistical reports; provides data and graphic presentation of analyzed data for submission to the use of the Registry files. 3. Types/drafts letters, memos, reports, documents and meeting minutes. 4. Coordinates appointments and in-service programs. Maintains files of all correspondence and information. 5. Restocks Stroke forms in the ED and maintains Stroke Reference Books on the In-patient units 6. Maintains Records of Code Stroke initiations and follows up with coding discrepancies 7. Remains up to date with Get With The Guideline database changes and communicates with Coordinator. Sepsis: Maintain Sepsis database Distribute Sepsis education materials to In-patient units and the ED. Track and maintain Sepsis team communication Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position. Requirements

  • High School graduate required.
  • Experience and demonstrated computer and clerical skills.
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships among staff, physicians and other hospital personnel.
  • Must possess competent communication skills, with ability to effectively relate to a wide cross of individuals, including hospital personnel, physicians, as well as with patients, families and the general public.
  • Demonstrates professional image, attitudes and behavior consistent with the philosophy of the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
  • Consistently maintains good interpersonal and communicative skills with hospital personnel, physicians, patients/families and the general public.

Nice To Haves

  • A.A.S. in Management, Accounting or similar field or one year business school or equivalent education preferred.
  • Two to three years in hospital or health care setting Preferred.
  • Knowledge/training in medical terminology and data processing a plus.
