The Position Our Global Pharma Strategy (GPS) team plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by driving the strategic direction of our innovative product portfolio. The Disease Area Leader - Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) role is critical to deliver on our Pharma Ambition. As the therapeutic area Late-Stage conduit into our early development teams, the Disease Area Leader plays a unique role in providing strategic insights and commercialization perspective to shape and steward our portfolio and create clarity on path to value, in particular through contribution to Asset and Disease Area Strategies and Business Development assessments.

Requirements

  • Possess scientific and commercial understanding of the therapeutic area, particularly in the prioritized disease area, ideally with an established network of external stakeholders and experience in development, portfolio, partnering, or medical affairs.
  • Hold an MBA, MD, PhD, or other relevant Graduate or Postgraduate Degree.
  • Demonstrate outstanding VACC (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, and Coach) leadership skills with a proven track record in building teams and influencing collaboratively within a cross-functional environment.
  • Exhibit exceptional strategic orientation and agility, with the ability to develop long-term vision and apply a deep understanding of the global pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry to create innovative business strategies.
  • Show proven abilities to lead and deliver in a complex matrix environment across multiple priorities, with extensive experience in commercialization strategies, global health systems, and product life-cycle management.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with R&Ds units and cross-functionally to ensure organizational alignment around understanding of future disease area context as an Asset Team member for Research and Early Development (REDs).
  • Ensure pipeline Asset strategies and Disease Strategies reflect value to patients, society, and Roche.
  • Provide global strategic guidance and business inputs into the development of Target Product Profiles and Clinical Development Plans with a strong emphasis on value demonstration for pipeline molecules until PivGo or LCL assigned.
  • Lead a cross-functional end-to-end team in the development and maintenance of disease area strategies that reflect near and long term pipeline portfolio evolution.
  • Represent GPS in assessment of external landscape and partnering opportunities in the context of Disease Area Strategies as the Partnering GPS TA SPOC.
  • Provide specific asset and platform/technology business input, path to value assessments, and strategic guidance to support due diligence.
  • Lead the integrated development and commercialization planning (IDCP) process in partnership with CLT to bring affiliate inputs into asset and disease area strategies and decision making.
