About The Position

As part of the Open Road Collision group DBA Bill Knight Collision, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality collision repair services with exceptional customer care. Our team is dedicated to restoring vehicles to pre-accident condition while making the repair process as smooth and stress-free as possible for our customers. We're currently seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Discovery Technician . Discovery Technicians play a critical role in the repair process by performing detailed vehicle inspections to identify all damage resulting from a collision. This position supports accurate repair planning, ensures proper documentation of damage, and facilitates a seamless workflow between estimators, body technicians, and insurance partners. The Discovery Technician acts as a bridge between disassembly and estimation, ensuring no damage goes unnoticed and contributing to safe, thorough, and cost-effective repairs.

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of collision repair experience required
Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate vehicles legally
Strong ability to analyze and interpret repair data and measurements
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering top-quality workmanship
Positive, dependable, and customer-focused mindset
Proficient in the use of standard shop tools and safety procedures

Nice To Haves

I-CAR Certification in body repair and welding preferred
OEM certification and knowledge of manufacturer repair processes highly valued

Responsibilities

Perform quality vehicle repairs as outlined on repair orders in line with manufacturer and industry standards
Communicate effectively with team members regarding repair progress and requirements
Complete welding, frame/unibody alignment, body panel repairs, and cosmetic work
Operate frame machines and other shop equipment safely and efficiently
Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Conduct Quality Control (QC) inspections upon completion of work
Mix chemicals and materials per manufacturer specifications
Adapt to a blueprint-style production model—may not disassemble vehicles personally
