As a Disaster Recovery Co - Op on Berkley Technology Services (BTS) Disaster Recovery team, you’ll gain experience in an area of IT that is used in every company and essential to the function of our organization. You will also get exposure to numerous other areas of our team including Financial Applications, Database, Middleware, Security, DevOps and more. You will also have a key hand in updating and building out the Disaster Recovery strategy and implementation for both on premise platforms and cloud apps. The intern program provides highly motivated and qualified students an opportunity to gain first-hand experience, receive valuable on-the-job training, and heighten business knowledge. Intern students will collaborate side by side with BTS employees in a variety of positions to complete challenging projects. Students will interact with all levels of management and senior leaders, and gain insight into business and technology in the insurance industry.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a similar field
  • At least two years of college or university coursework completed
  • 1 or more prior internship experience is required
  • Works well in a team environment and productive without constant supervision
  • Superior communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of or experience with SQL preferred
  • Experience with scripting in some language and desire to learn more is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Help create new/missing disaster recovery runbooks
  • Work with teams who need updates runbooks
  • Oversee Everbridge – learning the tool, updating documentation, updating users and troubleshooting issues within it
  • Help create DR testing schedule for 2024
  • Attend oversight meetings with BCP
  • Assist the team with application upgrades
  • Assist with EAM support tasks
  • Assist in creation and implementation of DR Strategy
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and MS Office Products
  • Fulfill tasks related to a SharePoint cleanup items related to the overall SharePoint Migration project
  • Fulfill tasks related to the pre-development of “Modern Pages” for SharePoint also related to the overall SharePoint Migration project
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Fulfill analytical & update tasks related to DR Program inventory and Wintel platform inventory
  • Fulfill analytical & update tasks related other, critical DR Program documentation
  • Ability to work in a remote office situation without direct daily supervision. Self-starter with a good work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and non-technical individuals and teams.
  • Proven track record of working in a fast paced and dynamic production environment managing multiple priorities.
