About The Position

The Disaster Preparedness Program Representative 3 (DPPR 3) plays a crucial role in overseeing emergency management and disaster preparedness programs within the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). This position involves managing relationships with local partners, facilitating emergency response, and ensuring the development and improvement of emergency management plans. The DPPR 3 will also be responsible for assessing training needs and delivering training programs across the state.

Requirements

  • Six years of emergency management experience.
  • An associate degree in a related field can substitute for two years of specialized experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field can substitute for four years of experience.
  • A master's degree in a related field can substitute for five years of experience.
  • A doctorate in a related field can substitute for six years of experience.
  • Experience in coordination and implementation of emergency management and disaster preparedness programs.
  • Experience in preparation or modification of disaster plans.
  • Experience in preparation, modification, presentation of disaster educational training and/or exercises.
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing information to produce briefings or reports.
  • Experience in representing an agency in an Emergency Operations Center or leadership position on the Incident Command System.
  • Experience in managing or supervising logistics operations during a major emergency or disaster.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and improvement of emergency management and disaster preparedness plans with county emergency management officials and local government.
  • Assess the training needs of State and local agencies and other organizations that support the State's emergency management efforts.
  • Conduct and/or facilitate the delivery of emergency management related training, both locally and regionally across the State.
  • Participate in the development and coordination of a statewide, comprehensive training and exercise plan.
  • Plan, design, and evaluate the curriculum for training programs.
  • Organize, develop, conduct, and review major training and development programs to improve performance of agency operations.
  • Provide technical planning assistance to state and local government agencies in the development of disaster preparedness and emergency response plans.
  • Support day-to-day functions in the emergency operations center during emergencies and disasters.
  • Be available to deploy and provide executive level briefs on a 24/7 basis.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Benefits

  • Location pay of $1,650.
