About The Position

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission has been authorized to utilize a Selective Qualification when interviewing applicants for this position. This is a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist (DVOP) position. Current proof of service-connected disability dated within six (6) months must be submitted with your electronic application. Evidence of military service dates (DD214) must accompany your electronic application. Will be selected in accordance with Title 38, U.S. Code Section 4103A.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in employment services, career or vocational guidance and counseling, personnel, recruitment, training, customer services or social services related work.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience substituting thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university for 3 years of the required work experience.
  • Must be a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces and eligible for veterans’ preference under Title 74 O.S. Supp Section 840.15.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams) and the Internet.

  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Veterans Employment programs including the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs training programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management to eligible Veterans who have significant barriers to employment by providing specialized and individualized career services.
  • Conduct outreach to actively seek out eligible veterans and other persons with barriers to employment.
  • Manage & promote career assessment/vocational counseling via applicant interview & qualification evaluation.
  • Create individual employment plans for qualified veterans and spouses to help identify and overcome barriers to employment.
  • Provide follow-up activities and services after employment to increase employment retention.
  • Utilize excellent customer-service skills to ensure optimal results for the workforce center staff.
  • Provide core services such as labor market information, career guidance, resume assistance, and job referral/developments.
  • Participate in center team meetings and manage DOL reports to ensure compliance with DOL guidance.
  • Utilize office machinery in accordance with safety/security protocols.
