The Disabled Students Program and Services (DSP&S) Adjunct Counselor will provide academic, career, and disability management counseling to students with disabilities. The primary location for this position is at the Pittsburg campus, with occasional assignments at the Brentwood Center. The role involves outreach to service area high schools and community groups, determining educational limitations and reasonable academic accommodations for students, and collaborating with the DSP&S team and Counseling Department.

  • Provide academic, career, and disability management counseling to students with disabilities.

  • Work collaboratively as part of the DSP&S team and Counseling Department.
  • Participate in Counseling Department trainings and DSP&S staff meetings.
  • Liaison with LMC faculty regarding accommodations and DSP&S policies and procedures.
  • Possession of a master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in rehabilitation counseling.
  • Possession of a master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in special education, and twenty-four or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, or social work.
  • A master's degree in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, or social welfare; and either twelve or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework specifically in counseling or rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities, or two years of full-time experience in counseling or guidance for students with disabilities.
  • Previous experience at an educational institution or community organization determining reasonable accommodations for adults with disabilities.
