About The Position

Lifesteps is hiring a Full-Time Disability Services Program Specialist to be based in the office in Kittanning, Armstrong County, PA. The Agency provides programs and services to help those with special needs live to their fullest potential. The ID Program Specialist is responsible for ensuring the health, safety and well-being of persons with intellectual disabilities by assisting in the development and implementation of appropriate plans for their care and development. The Program Specialist creates an environment that empowers individuals through the development of skills and coordination of resources and supportive services. They ensure that all special needs adult individuals have regularly scheduled medical, dental, psychiatric, and psychological services in accordance with regulations and doctor recommendations. This position is a combination of both hands on work with individuals and in the office performing administrative duties. It is not a supervisory position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years of experience working directly with persons with intellectual disabilities or autism OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university plus 4 years’ experience working with persons with intellectual disabilities or autism.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to articulate information to a diverse audience.
  • Must secure and maintain training requirements for Crisis Prevention Intervention within three months of hire.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license which legally permits operating a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of persons with intellectual disabilities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Plans (IP), Restrictive Procedure Plans, Social Emotional Environmental Plans, Fade Plans and Desensitization Plans.
  • Create an empowering environment for individuals through skill development and resource coordination.
  • Ensure that individuals have regularly scheduled medical, dental, psychiatric, and psychological services.
